Remarks:
Appearing on the scene in 2002, under the development of Alexander Arms, the 6.5 Grendel was a new AR 15 platform friendly cartridge. Having been developed from the PPC cartridges with greater case capacity than the 223, it was soon recognized as a cartridge with wide versatility. Quite useful for target shooting to 600 yards, it also performs very well on varmints at medium ranges. Naturally, hunters would also be attracted due to its light recoil along with plenty of velocity and energy to harvest deer and antelope. Accuracy has proven to be very good and lightweight short- action bolt rifles would work well for smaller statured shooters and those hunting in rugged terrain. Versatile, efficient, and accurate all are fitting descriptions of the 6.5 Grendel.

Y’all didn’t include AR Comp? Works great in my rifle. How about a 120 ish grain Gameking for the Gren?

Right!? This works well in my rifle too. I’m pushing a 123 SMK 2490fps with 28gr of ARcomp out of a 18 inch barrel. No signs of pressure and groups under .75 of an inch at 100m.

All the obvious powders are missing ARComp, 8208XBR and CFE223.

I used the ppc case with a 40 degree shoulder and 7mm bullets, With 29 grs of AA2520 a 150 ran over 2400. That was in 1987. A 40 degree shoulder would greatly improve performance with a 6.5 bullet

With the popularity of the Grendel, why no CFE data and why not 107gr hunting bullets?

That’s pretty good for a short barrel. I’m running a 27″ 5r in an ar15 space gun for NRA highpower. Shooting the 107 smk across the course. Getting 2850-2870 with 29.4gr Benchmark. Shoots bugholes at 100 and 200, as good as aperture sights will allow me to aim anyway. I could never get the tipped 107 to shoot below an inch. Played with the various 130gr bullets out there but the faster 107 does well enough in the wind out to the 600 yard line we shoot up to. Curious what your brass life is like, I get 4-5 reloads till the case head bulges out to much, backed the load down to the lower accurate spot which is at 28.2gr and was the same. Using the starline brass. I’d hate to ding up the fancy Lapua stuff in an ar.

I can tell you what QuickLOAD says is around maximum at 70° F with a C.O.A.L of 2.260″ in a case with capacity of 35.7 grains of H20: 30.7 grains of BL-C(2). They say to back-off 10% and work-up from there. This top charge has a 100% case fill of powder and 96.58% of powder will be burned by the time the 107 grain TMK leaves the barrel. Velocity is predicted to be 2736 fps from a 24″ barrel. Shortening the C.O.A.L or using a heavier or longer projectile would likely cause an over pressure condition.

30gr BLC-2 with a 107 gave me the best accuracy in my rifle and is a moderate load. I have a ton of BLC around so I try it pretty much everything. 30.6 with a 130 vld was a load I used for a while to.
